Hi Reader,
What’s been happening? And what’s coming up?
PICARD3000 meets Gero Schipmann
Musically, this is an absolute highlight for me personally. Our little project - always on the lookout for new musical worlds and interdisciplinary feedback loops - is currently meeting up, regularly irregularly, with Gero Schipmann, an old friend and guitar virtuoso.
If you’d like a taste of what we hope to release later this year, check out Sessions 6 & 7 on our website: http://picard3000.art/sessions
It’s hard to describe the music. It lives somewhere between ambient and jazz, science fiction and poetry. But more exciting is the way we make music together without ever rehearsing. Everything is based on listening and feeling, on communication through sound, empathy, and consciously letting go of expectations.
Some ideas we’d love to explore in the near future:
- Playing a concert in a planetarium
- Collaborating with dancers and performance artists
- All kinds of interdisciplinary formats
- Composing music for a film or short film
If you have any ideas or leads, feel free to reach out to me or to us!
Another exciting moment: I recently attended my first GEMA general assembly as a delegate. In Munich, I met a lot of inspiring people, dove deep into how GEMA works, and got to vote on many new proposals. I’m excited to use this honorary role to help shape decisions that affect me and many fellow composers.
A real highlight was the tour week with ZSK. It kicked off on Wednesday at the open-air stage of the Arena in Vienna, followed by a living room show in Zittau’s “Bunter Hund” - packed with 100 people, sold out, sweaty, loud, and full of energy. After that, we jumped straight into Rock im Park and Rock am Ring - complete opposites: tens of thousands of people, huge stages, pro crews, and so many people making sure everything runs smoothly. I’d say this long weekend is already nominated as a highlight for 2025.
Illegale Farben hit the road with Kratzen and Joseph Boys.
What can I say… Illegale Farben has been going for 10 years now, constantly evolving while still feeling like a steady part of my life.
There aren’t many more shows planned this year, but we’ve already started working on IF 5.0 - our fifth album, scheduled for release in 2027. The photos are from our shows with Kratzen and Joseph Boys, each of whom we joined for a weekend.
Where else will I be this summer?
I’ll be on the road all summer—if you’re nearby, let me know and drop by!
